About OnDeck

What is OnDeck

After spending far too many hours researching tournament schedules, I decided to build OnDeck to save myself (and other coaches!) time.

OnDeck is the ultimate tournament finder for select baseball in the DFW area. We aggregate tournaments from many sanctioning bodies to help coaches and parents find the perfect events for their teams.

Development Notes

Recommended Usage

The primary intended use for OnDeck is on a computer. It works well in terms of showing all the filters at all times and dynamically updates the results without any need to refresh the page, which can make the process of searching for tournaments go even faster. It works fine on mobile, just know that the best experience will be on an actual computer.

Mobile app

I wasn't sure when/if I'd make an app, but I have the equivalent of an app all set up and ready to be used now. Maybe in the future I'll set it up like a true app, but I actually like this way because it's a lot easier to update than a regular app. Please see the app page for info on installing our mobile app.

Data

Data is updated twice a day and events have a time stamp at the bottom of the tournament details so you can see when it was last updated.

Features

There are some features that aren't working yet (like the stars next to tournaments) due to them being part of my phase 2 rollout.

Feedback

If you spot something that doesn't seem to work, please let me know. Heads-up though: a few elements (like the star icons next to tournaments) are placeholders for phase 2 features and aren't active yet — those aren't bugs. Anything else that looks off, I'd love to hear about.

I'm open to questions, comments, concerns, feedback, or feature suggestions. Please complete the form on the contact page and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Thanks for checking out OnDeck!

Changelog

7-30-26

  • Added Team Search to OD Circle — look up any team by name and see every tournament they're registered for.
  • The OD Circle is now organized into tabs: Schedule, Watchlist, Alerts, and Team Search
  • Past tournaments now clean themselves up — they disappear from your Watchlist automatically, and move into a "Past" section on your Schedule so you keep a record of the season you played
  • Tapping a tournament in your OD Circle now opens its full details, same as on the main list
  • Overlapping dates on your Schedule now explain themselves — tap the ⚠️ to see exactly which tournaments conflict
  • Blog is now "The Dugout" — the new home for guides, tips, and gear worth having at a tournament
  • Rewrote the home page and sign-in page so it's clear what OnDeck and the OD Circle actually do
  • Lots of layout cleanup in the OD Circle: clearer icons with a legend explaining each one, tidier cards, better fit on phones

7-29-26

  • Filling-up alerts can now be set for a specific age group, so you're only emailed when your division is filling up — not when some other age
  • Tapping the star now asks whether you want the tournament on your Watchlist or your Schedule
  • Added an Account page for your membership, email, and password
  • Slimmed down the OD Circle cards so more fits on a phone screen

7-28-26

  • Alerts now arrive by email, with a one-click unsubscribe link in every one
  • Added a notification bell at the top of the OD Circle showing what's triggered recently
  • New alert: get notified when registration is about to close on a tournament you're tracking
  • Added an Alert Settings section listing every alert you've set, editable in one place
  • Free accounts include limited access for Schedule Builder and Watchlist; premium removes the limits
  • Fixed date ranges that spanned two months displaying backwards (e.g. "Aug 28-1")
  • Fixed the dashboard scrolling sideways on phones
  • Fixed blog posts running off the edge of phone screens
  • Added a back button to the tournament detail view

7-20-26

  • Accounts are here. Star tournaments to save them, and they'll be waiting next time you visit.
  • Split saved tournaments into a Watchlist (ones you're considering) and a Schedule Builder (the season you're actually committing to, with a warning when dates overlap)
  • New alert: get notified when a new team registers for a tournament on your schedule
  • Extended tournament listings about four months out instead of stopping at a fixed date, so more tournaments show up

7-15-26

  • Added a Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, linked at the bottom of every page
  • Removed the star icons next to tournaments (for now). They were placeholders for a "save your tournaments" feature that's still on the way.
  • Added oAuth for Google sign-in

7-14-26

  • Built admin tools to hand-correct tournament details (title, ages, fee, city) when a source lists something wrong
  • Refined the ability to highlight specific tournaments

6-3-26

  • Improved high school listings, which added around 70 more tournaments
  • Registration links now open in your phone's browser instead of inside the installed app, so registering works smoothly on mobile

5-22-26

  • Featured tournaments now stand out with a highlighted row
  • Added blog and posted the first article
  • Improved link previews when sharing OnDeck on social media

5-19-26

  • Moved out of beta — OnDeck is now a stable release. Updates and new features will keep rolling out.
  • Added new age group filters: 6U, 15U, 16U
  • Added an HS button that filters to high-school-age (15U-18U) tournaments in one click
  • Fixed PAC Sports pricing — events where divisions are priced differently now show a range (e.g. $420-$630) instead of a single misleading number
  • "Register Now" button now switches to "View Tournament" within 2 days of the start date, since registration usually closes around then

5-15-26

  • Added a new "Rec" sanction with the Keep Calm & Baseball On All-Star tournament
  • Fixed a behind-the-scenes issue where some tournaments would show up twice if the sanction edited the tournament's title (affected every source — duplicates now cleaned up and won't reappear)

4-15-26

  • Fixed duplicate tournament rows that appeared when TDs edited tournament titles
  • Added an automatic cleanup that removes orphaned/stale tournaments after 5 days
  • Added a watchdog so data update that crashes mid-run sends an alert instead of going silent

4-14-26

  • Restored daily data updates after a permissions change had silently broken the update system
  • Added failure-alert emails so future silent breakages surface immediately
  • Corrected the times shown for the automated data refresh schedule (daylight saving had shifted them)
