OnDeck

About OnDeck

What is OnDeck

After spending far too many hours researching tournament schedules, I decided to build OnDeck to save myself (and other coaches!) time.

OnDeck is the ultimate tournament finder for select baseball in the DFW area. We aggregate tournaments from many sanctioning bodies to help coaches and parents find the perfect events for their teams.

Important Beta Info

OnDeck is in beta (and likely will be for a while)

I'd love to wait until everything is perfect, but I know a lot of you are building your spring schedules right now. So here it is. The core stuff works—searching, filtering, all that. But if you run into something that doesn't work right, please hit the contact page and let me know. I'd appreciate it.

Just a heads up that some features aren't live yet (more in the development notes below). But everything you need to find tournaments? That's good to go.

Thanks for checking out OnDeck--I hope you find it useful!

Building OnDeck

Please take a few moments to read the Development Notes to get some insight into how to best use OnDeck and some additional info on what to expect in terms of data accuracy and future updates.

Below the Development Notes, there's a Changelog section, which is where I keep a log of the project's status and recent updates.

Development Notes

While I've been eager to release this, I held off releasing for a while because I wanted to have it built out more before sharing it. I feel like this tool is finally in a good place in my development plan to share, however, there are some notes I wanted to share with anyone checking out in in this early developmental stage:

  • Recommended Usage: The primary intended use for OnDeck is on a computer. It works well in terms of showing all the filters at all times and dynamically updates the results without any need to refresh the page, which can make the process of searching for tournaments go even faster. It works fine on mobile, just know that the best experience will be on an actual computer.
  • Mobile app: I wasn't sure when/if I'd make an app, but I have the equivalent of an app all set up and ready to be used now. Maybe in the future I'll set it up like a true app, but I actually like this way because it's a lot easier to update than a regular app. Please see the app page for info on installing our mobile app.
  • Data: As of now, data is being updated at least every other day, but will move to at least once a day–and hopefully more often. If enough people like this and will use it, I will look at options for updating multiple times a day (the issue for more updates is the cost behind it).
  • Features: There are some features that aren't working yet (like the stars next to tournaments) due to them being part of my phase 2 rollout. Feel free to let me know if you think there's something that isn't working, that should be working, but there's a chance it isn't working because it's a phase 2 feature. Normally I'd just leave those out for now, but there are a couple things that were built into the initial framework to be ready for phase 2 and I wanted to leave them to save future work of adding them back in.

With that said, the data will likely be a bit outdated whenever you're looking at this. Since we're still in the development stage, please use the data as a helper/guide, but don't rely on it. The great thing is you can click on the "register" button to get the most current info directly from the tournament host/sanction.

I'm open to questions, comments, concerns, feedback, or feature suggestions. Please complete the form on the contact page and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Thanks for checking out OnDeck!
